A Prowling Enemy

I arrived home a few weeks ago and Mama said, “we need to talk”.

                “What did I do now?” I snapped.  Instantly, I wondered why am I defensive?

                “Nothing. We just need to discuss our plans for the day.”

                Why was my natural inclination to snap and grow defensive, when there was nothing to be defensive about.  I dwelled on this and the way the enemy sneaks in to attack us and our relationships when we least expect it.

                Mama’s calm answer smoothed ruffled feathers, I didn’t even realize I had.  I really had to dig to find where the irritation was coming from, while remembering we often take our frustrations out on those closest to us.

                Peter wrote, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  {1 Peter 5:8}

                I am reminded to keep my eyes and heart open and be aware of those places where the devil prowls looking to devour and destroy me.

                Where is he prowling in your life?
