A Camel Through the Eye of a Needle

There is an acquaintance who enjoys talking about how much money he has and attempting to hold it over everyone’s head.  He doesn’t even realize he is doing this, but more than one person has voiced how this is a turn off to them.

Someone approached me after Bible Study one day and mentioned Jesus’ words in Matthew 19:24. “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

We live in a society that has plenty and thrives on materialism and having more. This made me think about how many of us are like that camel trying to go through the eye of a needle.  We want to hold on to our desires and dreams instead of giving it to the Lord and trusting him.

Lord, may we hold tightly to you and not the riches of the world.
