What Others Meant for Evil, God Uses for God

In the book of Genesis, Joseph is sold into slavery by his brothers.  However, God uses this to raise Joseph up and provide a provision in the drought.

When he is reunited with his brothers, Joseph says, what you meant for evil, God meant for God.  Even now he has prepared the way to provide for you.   In Genesis 50:20, he says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

I can look back on my life at events where others meant to harm or destroy me.  However, time and time again, God turned these events around and used them for His good.

Sometimes, it is difficult to see this until we are on the other side of the journey.

But, if we will keep our eyes focused on God and trust Him, He can take the worst situation and turn it around for His honor, glory, and praise.

The best example of this is the life of Jesus.  The Pharisees, Sadducees, and soldiers meant to get rid of Him once and for all.  They had Jesus crucified on the cross and thought they were finished with Him.

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

But, God used Jesus crucifixion for good.  The blood that Jesus shed on the cross wipes away the sin of each of us if we will just call on Him and confess our sins.  We are promised that He will hear us and forgive our sins.   {1 John 1:9}

But, Jesus did not stay in the tomb.  He rose from the grave three days later and today he sits at the right hand of the Father. {Romans 8:34}  We are promised that one day He will return.  {Matthew 24:30-31}
